Giving waste food a new life
CIRCULAR BEAUTY - UPCYCLED INGREDIENTS
Everyday over 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed daily around the world. Very little of these spent grinds are actually put to good use and the majority of it ends up on landfills.
1 TON COFFEE WASTE = 340m³ METHANE
Eight percent of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions come from food loss and waste, which is why reducing food waste could be considered the single greatest solution to climate change. By using spent coffee-grinds as opposed to new beans, we are able to minimise the resources used for creating and processing the beans such as solar energy, harvesting, roasting, and transporting the beans (and possible carbon emissions).
WHY UPCYCLED COFFEE?
Coffee is a highly bioactive plant filled with antioxidants, fatty acids, diterpene esters, melanoidins, proteins and sugars. Due to its high content of antioxidants and fatty acids, it provides a host of skin care benefits.
By use spent coffee grinds, we ensure coffee's life cycle doesn't end after you drink it!
Apart from using the spent grinds in our scrubs, we also use an upcycled coffee oil in our face serum and body oil which is extracted from the spent grinds. This sustainable beauty oil has remarkable skin care benefits. Its balance between saturated and unsaturated fatty acids helps the oil to quickly penetrate the skin layers.

Repairs & Protects
Phenolic compounds and tocopherols exhibit assist in reducing inflammation of the skin, soreness in the muscles and wound healing.
Strengthens Skin Barrier
Essential fatty acids, mainly linoleic (omega 6) and linolenic acid (omega 3), play a major role as a building block of the skin barrier

Coffee is abundant in linoleic acid. Linoleic acid has a direct role in maintaining the integrity of the water permeability barrier of the skin.
Skin Firming
Coffee oil contains caffeine which is commonly known for stimulating blood circulation, functioning as an anti-inflamatory agent and improving skin elasticity.
